This week we have a guest writer, Tom Moss. Tom is currently undergoing a work-experience placement with us and has been researching ways that individually we can contribute to a healthier home and healthier planet!
Climate change is a serious matter and we are very passionate about it at Cobalt Carbon Free. In fact, it is our entire ethos.
In this post, we have come up with ways everyone can help save the planet, your house at a time.
There are many ways to have a healthy home, while helping to save the planet.
Some options are free so you can have a healthy home, even if you have no budget.
These options can include:
Recycle glass and plastic packaging
Recycle household paper and cardboard waste
Donate or recycle old or unused clothes
Walk to work
Bike to work

For those who want low-cost ways to help the environment, there are lots of cheap and effective options, without breaking the bank. These Low-cost options could include:
Buy sustainable local produce
Buy clothes and furniture from charity or upcycle shops
Buy wood furnishings from sustainable sources
Switch from a diesel car to petrol to further reduce your carbon footprint
Use energy efficient lightbulbs to save energy and money
Ditch your plastic water bottle and opt for a sustainable, reusable steel/glass bottle
High-cost ways to have a healthy home may be expensive if you’re on a budget, but they can have the biggest impact when combating climate change. If you have large budget and care for the environment, here are some ways you can help:
Get an extension on your home instead of buying a new house
Have wall insulation fitted
Have roof insulation fitted
Have solar panels fitted, creating free energy for your home
Buy a hybrid or fully electric car
Buy more up to date appliances e.g. white goods that have a better energy rating and have less of an impact on the environment
Whether you have a small or large budget, there are always ways to have a lasting positive effect on both your home and the climate.
At cobalt, we passionate about creating long-lasting, cost effective home improvements that have a significant impact on the environment in a positive way.
