Heat Loss and Thermal Imaging

external wall insulation nottingham

Thermal imaging is a specialised service that helps home owners identify key areas of heat loss in their property.
Specialist cameras detect radiation in the infra-red spectrum. They produce visual images of cold and hot spots of walls, doors, windows, roofs and more.

The inspection procedure covers all the internal and external areas of the property. Accurate diagnostic detail of specific areas pinpoints where heat and money escapes. These reports provide useful insights and help generate the solutions for minimising wastage.

What causes heat loss?

> Insufficient, missing, wet or discontinued insulation can affect the amount of heat lost from walls, floors and roofs. Insulation can become damaged during installation or in extreme cases forgotten completely. Insulation can also become wet causing it to sag exposing surfaces to thermal transfer.

> Thermal Bridging in buildings occurs when a direct connection of the solid building materials from the outside to the inside. Creating wasteful heat transfer across the elements, its internal surface and insulated surfaces. Warm moist air condensates on the cold surfaces and results in extensive mould growth.

> Air leakage and infiltration is a common factor in the home. Defective seals, wall sockets, doors, pipe and cable entries, loft hatches and windows the main cause. Identifying the main areas is the first step to rectifying unnecessary losses.

Once we have identified where the majority of the heat is escaping from using our thermal imaging equipment, we can offer you the most appropriate solutions to solve the problem and become HeatSmart.
